Apprenticeships
Learning Support & Accessibility

How long do the programmes last?

  • The Corndel Project Management Diploma (Level 4): 12 months + 1 month EPA

What will I be required to do on the programme?

You will have access to videos and textbooks covering core content via Corndel’s online learning platform. Using these each week, you will explore one topic and undertake short focussed tasks to apply concepts to your role. Each month, you will have a one-to-one session with your Professional Development expert. Corndel is also working with your L&D team to ensure the Diploma is tailored to you, your role and your organisation. This may include bespoke workshops focussing on key priorities.

What exactly is an Apprenticeship Programme?

Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job with study. Apprenticeships have equivalent educational levels.

As an apprentice you’ll:

  • be an employee earning a wage and getting holiday pay
  • work alongside experienced staff
  • gain job-specific skills
  • get time for training and study related to your role (at least 20% of your normal working hours)

Is an Apprenticeship Programme really free?

Yes! Since 2017 businesses have paid a Government training levy (the Apprenticeship Levy) which enables your employer to invest in your personal development. Your organisation would make an investment in you to complete an apprenticeship programme. Learn more about the Levy here.

Am I eligible for an Apprenticeship Programme?

  • Be a UK resident and live in England 50% of the year*
  • Have lived in the UK for the previous 3 years continuously
  • Not be enrolled in full time education
  • Not be currently participating in another apprenticeship programme
  • Be on a PAYE contract (fixed term contracts need to cover the full duration of the programme, including your EPA).

*If you are a non-UK resident, you must be on an acceptable Visa. This visa must cover the full duration of your programme, including your End Point Assessment (EPA).

What is the time commitment?

To be eligible for government funding you must spend at least 20% of your normal working hours (capped at 30 hours per week for funding purposes only), over the planned duration of the apprenticeship practical period, on off-the-job training. This means that the minimum requirement, for apprentices working 30 hours or more per week is an average of 6 hours of off-the-job training per week (i.e. 20% of 30 hours) over the planned duration.

Corndel's programmes are designed so that not all of this time is away from your day job. Off-the-job training includes work completed on Aptem (reading and CPD tasks), 1-2-1’s with your Professional Development Expert, Workshops, and putting the learning into practice in the workplace.

I might need additional learning support but I'm not sure. Can you help me if so?

At Corndel, we are committed to supporting all learners in reaching their maximum potential and we understand that everybody learns, processes information, and thinks differently. We have a dedicated Learner Support Team to help you understand how your brain processes information, which means we can make the correct adjustments to teaching and learning, including utilising our online platforms or finding the correct software, to ensuring the learning is accessible to your needs.

Through Corndel’s partnership with Cognassist, we offer you the opportunity to take a 35-minute cognitive diversity assessment. If a barrier to learning is identified, you can expect the following:

• 121 support sessions with a specialist Learner Support Tutor.

• Access to a bespoke cognitive diversity dashboard to help with any domains requiring support such as time management, memory, writing skills, exam preparation, productivity, wellbeing support, presentation skills and more.

• Support in applying reasonable adjustments through your entire apprenticeship journey.

Research suggests that 80% of people with dyslexia leave school without a diagnosis. For that reason, we do not require you to have a diagnosis to engage with our dedicated Learner Support Team. If you have ever suspected a learning need or have noticed barriers to learning that you would like to explore further, you can enrol on the programme and speak to your Professional Development Expert who can refer you to the Learner Support Team.

Is the programme content accessible?

Here at Corndel, we host our learning content, which is created in Articulate Rise, on a learning management system called Aptem. Both systems aim to comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to an AA standard. Our e-learning materials are designed to meet a detailed set of guidelines that makes web content more accessible to people with a variety of disabilities including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning and neurological disabilities.

Here are a few ways in which the learning content has been made accessible:

  • Learning content is compatible with widely used screen reading technologies and is keyboard navigable.
  • Alternative text descriptions are added to all image-based content and subtitles are included for all videos.
  • Contrast ratio levels of visual information (for example, text on imagery) meets the standard of 4.5:1 or higher and moving imagery is checked for any flashing that may exceed 3 flashes per second.
  • The structure of learning content is set out clearly with headers and sections, ensuring clear navigation as learners progress.
